As we are coming off of Appreciation week for nurses, teachers, and firefighters, I love hearing all the ways these awesome humans were honored. One teacher I know what given this cute token of appreciation (see image). Why do we celebrate these respective industries?
Because we know how challenging the job is!
Many of the responsibilities of these careers are not for the faint of heart. We respect those that have the calling for these roles. We are grateful that these individuals tolerate the struggles that come with the profession. Going through these struggles day in and day out are what develop these individuals into subject matter experts. We look to these individuals for guidance and leadership in their respective fields.
Without those struggles the individual doesn’t advance, the industry doesn’t advance, and we as a society miss out on all the richness that these awesome humans could share.
So, thank you, nurses! Thank you, teachers! Thank you, firefighters! Thank you for leaning into the uncomfortable part of the job and growing both personally and professionally as a result of that struggle.
