I have seen so much change these last few months. Even individuals who shy away from change have verbalized the desire for something new. Big or small, fast or slow, scary or exciting, and whether you embrace or resist; change is happening everywhere.
With honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. this week, it reminds me that change, no matter how gradual, is worth celebrating. The Civil War ended in 1865. The civil rights movement gained a victory in 1964. Here we are 60 years after the end of Jim Crow laws, and while we have made significant progress, we have so far to go.
It’s important to pause and acknowledge what has been accomplished.
