Ready to Take Flight?

When was the last time you flew? I happened to be in mid-flight recently when the pilot came on the speaker and shared that masks were no longer mandated on flights. That felt like a small historical moment that will get stored away in my brain.

Have you ever examined the wings of a plane? In recent years you may have noticed a small change to the wingtips. The wings now sport a slight curvature at the end of the wing.  Some airlines made this alteration to their Boeing 737-700 planes by adding the APB Blended Winglet to the wing. This minor little change saved airlines almost 100,000 gallons of fuel annually. If one little change can make that massive of an impact on the amazing flying machine, imagine what one little change can do for you? 

Transforming your health truly begins with one small change. For years I would try to go cold turkey with sugar, try a fad diet, or work out relentlessly. Each time, it would end the same way:  I would binge the second the moment I had a bad day and when I caught a whiff of a baked good. It wasn’t until I committed to ONE single action that I began to make progress. I stuck with one simple step and let go of other things I knew I “should” be doing. 

Once I was consistent with one action, I was able to add another and then another. I eventually evolved into a healthy person. It’s not perfect and it never will be (perfection is never the goal). Yet, with one small pivot to my routine, I have arrived to a place where I feel the benefits and extreme difference between eating clean versus a processed, high sugar diet. My brain fog is gone. My energy level is high and consistent throughout the day. My skin is clear. I feel amazing! And it all started with one small change. 

What is one small step you would be willing to commit to? Would you increase your daily water intake? Could you add more vegetables to each meal? Are you willing to not “supersize” your meals? 

It takes 28 days for a habit to form. Completing one small action for a month will land you in a different place than where you are now. Sometimes the answer is so simple but to put it into action can be intimidating, especially if your metabolism or headspace is feeling stuck. That is why you start small. What is your “Winglet”?
