


Oh what joy!! I received a visit from my east coast Golden Girl. This is one of my inner circle friends that I would totally do the Golden Girl living arrangement during our retirement years. Fortunately, for me, she married an amazing man that tolerates his friend-in-laws well. I love hanging out with these two humans and I am so excited I got to share the beautiful state of Colorado with them. After such an isolating year as 2020, I was almost zealous for their arrival.
It made me realize I was starving myself of the basic nutrition of friendship. Friendship is a key ingredient of relationships which is one of the main nutrients of overall health. This concept is called primary nutrition. There are several components to primary nutrition such as relationships, career, and physical activities to name a few. Essentially, primary nutrition is the stuff that fuels us that isn’t on our plate. It is equally important as the nourishment we put in our body. I need my Golden Girl time and, between long distance and the pandemic, I had been deprived of it for quite some time.
However, we made up for lost time by cramming in as much as we could. My friend, her husband, and I covered several miles and many activities in just a few days. We reminisced over good times while simultaneously creating new memories. We got in exercise, exploration and a lot of intellectual stimulation; all of which falls under primary nutrition.
